Suncrest Half Marathon Course
The Mountain Racing, Inc Course Committee used the GeoDistance application
(www.geodistance.com) to map out the 2010 Suncrest Mountain Race Half-marathon
Course.

Half-marathon and 5k runners will start both courses, respectively, together. Race start
time is 7:00 AM on Saturday. September 11th, 2010.
Runners will begin the race at the North entrance/exit area of the Suncrest Information
Center parking lot. Course heads East on Deer Ridge Dr. continuing to the four-way stop
where Deer Ridge Dr. intersects with Traverse Ridge Rd. Runners will continue East
(Deer Ridge Dr becomes Suncrest Dr. after four-way Stop).

Runners will continue down Suncrest Dr. past Eagle Stone Dr.

5k runners will split from half-marathon runners and take the East-side Suncrest trailhead
beginning about a quarter-mile past Eagle Stone Dr. Half-marathoners will continue just
past the trailhead and then cross to the other side of the road to begin running on the wide
trails and fire road leading to the Richmond Homes Development. ***The first rest stop
will be located just off Suncrest Dr. before runners ascend up the hill to connect to the
fire road.

Runners will make their way up a trail that will connect to the fire road.
Runners will continue descending the fire-road until it connects with N. Highland Blvd.
below the Richmond American Homes development.

Runners will enter the lower portion of the Richmond American Homes area. The second
rest stop will be located near the neighborhood park in the center of the development. The
course will continue through this section and then connect to the jeep road located on the
Northwest portion of the development.


Runners will continue ascending along the jeep road until it meets up with the Utah
County side of the Maple Hollow trail.

The Utah County side of the Maple Hollow trail continues until it meets the park located
just beyond the Deer Ridge Rd. Bridge. Runners will pass through the tunnel below the
bridge and then up to the park. The fourth and final aid station will be located in the
parking circle.

Runners will continue northbound on Elk Glen Dr. and then turn right on Bluff Point Dr.

Bluff Point Dr. becomes Meadow Bluff Ln. and runners will begin to make their way
back to Elk Glen Dr. where they will connect with Deer Ridge Rd. to head past the
Longbranch Dr. intersection.
Runners will then enter a trail located off of the Salt Lake valley viewing parking lot at
the crest of Deer Ridge Dr. Runners will continue down this trail until it meets up with
Traverse Ridge Rd. on the Salt Lake County side of Suncrest.

Runners will begin ascent back up to the top of the Suncrest Development heading to the
four-way stop where Traverse Ridge Rd. and Deer Ridge Dr. intersect.

Runners will reconnect with Suncrest Dr. and head eastward again down the hill on the
Utah County side.

Runners will continue down Suncrest Dr. past Eagle Stone Dr. (as before). Runners will
then begin on the single track Suncrest trailhead (where the 5k runners had split).

Runners will continue along Suncrest trail and exit at the Southside Suncrest trailhead
(Where Traverse Ridge Rd. and Eagle Crest Dr. intersect.

The fifth aid station will be located at the trailhead parking circle.

Runners will continue along Suncrest trail until it connects to Deer Ridge Dr.

Runners will enter connect with Deer Ridge Dr. and head east and then take a right on
Longbranch Dr. Course makes a turn on Lone Oak Dr. There will be a rest stop in the
neighborhood park. Runners will connect to Walnut Grove Dr. which reconnects the
course to Longbranch Dr.

Runners will continue on Longbranch Dr. heading southeast and then connect with Oak
Summit Dr. The course then takes Runners into the Tallwoods development. Runners
will continue through this area and then connect to the portion of Traverse Ridge Rd.
above the Suncrest Information Center location.

Runners will head down Traverse Ridge Rd. and finish in the Suncrest Information
Center parking lot (same as 5k).
