HALF MARATHON COURSE
Half-marathon and 5k runners will start both courses, respectively, together. Race start time is 8:00 AM on Saturday. September 12th, 2009. Runners will begin the race at the North entrance/exit area of the Suncrest Information Center parking lot. Course heads East on Deer Ridge Dr continuing to the four-way stop where Deer Ridge Dr. intersects with Traverse Ridge Rd. Runners will continue East (Deer Ridge Dr becomes Suncrest Dr. after four-way Stop).
Runners will continue down Suncrest Dr. past Eagle Stone Dr.
The East-side Suncrest trailhead begins about a quarter-mile past Eagle Stone Dr – as runners continue heading southbound. Runners will merge on to trail as it winds its way westward below Eagle Crest Dr.
Runners will continue along Suncrest trail and exit at the Southside Suncrest trailhead (Where Traverse Ridge Rd and Eagle Crest Dr intersect.
An aid station will be located at the trailhead parking circle. Half-marathon runners will split from 5k runners and reconnect with the Suncrest trail as shown below:
Runners will continue along Suncrest trail until it connects to Deer Ridge Dr.
Runners will head eastward on Deer Ridge Dr for approximately one-quarter mile and then enter a trail located off of the Salt Lake valley viewing parking lot at the crest of Deer Ridge Dr. Runners will continue down this trail until it meets up with Traverse Ridge Rd on the Salt Lake County side of Suncrest.
Runners will begin ascent back up to the top of the Suncrest Development heading to the four-way stop where Traverse Ridge Rd and Deer Ridge Dr intersect.
Runners will reconnect with Suncrest Dr and head eastward again down the hill on the Utah County side.

The snapshot above shows how runners will transition to Suncrest Dr from Traverse Ridge Rd. The racing committee kindly requests Draper City close the merging road from Suncrest Dr to Traverse Rd (for safety reasons). Traffic can proceed to the four-way stop and then turn right on Traverse Ridge Rd to continue on. The second aid station will be located in the closed off portion of the road.

Runners will continue down Suncrest Dr past Eagle Stone Dr (as before). Approximately the same location where the East-side Suncrest trailhead is located runners will head east into the undeveloped portion of the Suncrest property (East of Suncrest Dr.). Runners will make their way up a trail that will connect to a fire-road.
Runners will continue descending the fire-road until it connects with N. Highland Blvd below the Richmond American Homes development.
Runners will enter the lower portion of the Richmond American Homes area. The third rest stop will be located in this area (exact location yet to be decided). The course will continue through this section and then connect to the jeep road located on the Northwest portion of the development.
Runners will continue ascending along the jeep road until it meets up with the Utah County side of the Maple Hollow trail.
The Utah County side of the Maple Hollow trail continues until it meets the park located just beyond the Deer Ridge Rd Bridge. Runners will pass through the tunnel below the bridge and then up to the park. The fourth and final aid station will be located in the parking circle.
Runners will continue northbound on Elk Glen Dr and then turn right on Bluff Point Dr.
Bluff Point Dr becomes Meadow Bluff Ln and runners will begin to make their way back to Elk Glen Dr where they will connect with Deer Ridge Rd to head east to the Longbranch Dr intersection.
Runners will enter Longbranch Dr and then make an immediate right on Amber Crest Ln – which will loop around to become Lone Oak Dr. Runners will reconnect with Longbranch Dr.
Runners will continue on Longbranch Dr heading southeast and then connect with Oak Summit Dr. The course then takes Runners into the Tallwoods development. Runners will continue through this area and then connect to the portion of Traverse Ridge Rd above the Suncrest Information Center location.
Runners will head down Traverse Ridge Rd and finish in the Suncrest Information Center parking lot (same as 5k).
